Fashion industry is a billion dollar industry and it is just getting bigger day by day. The fashion industry is widespread and is growing equally throughout the world. One thing which comes out of this globalization of the fashion industry is cross-cultural fashion. Different parts of the world have different fashion trends which are largely dictated by the economical as well as social scenario of that region. But nowadays fashion designers in different parts of the world are looking at their fellow counterparts in other parts of the world for getting inspiration for designing clothing and accessories. Even the customers throughout the world need to view and thus get a feel of the designs of good designers from other countries. The best way for this global customer- designer union to form is by celebrating ‘Fashion festivals’.

Fashion festivals are more than just fashion weeks. Fashion weeks just involve ramp shows and a showy display of a collection of clothing or accessories by a designer. But a fashion festival is a conglomeration of designs of fashion designers from different countries, from different cultures, each having a different sense of fashion. Fashion festivals are held throughout the world. Some of the notable fashion festivals are the L’Oreal Melbourne fashion festival, Mercedes Benz fashion festival, Singapore fashion festival and Croydon fashion festival. There are different genres of events that are held in a fashion festival. Usually, an event of ‘fashion flicks’ is often held wherein a selection of films with a fashion focus are screened. These movies are chosen by the fashion director of the fashion festival being celebrated. Then there are ramp shows just like any other fashion week. But in some fashion festivals, there are charity fashion shows which donate money from show ticket sales. Such kind of new initiatives are being taken in many fashion festivals.
