Change with stripes
Days of plain colored clothing is slowly but surely fading away. The days are gone where the plain colors were the professional dresses. Now the stripes are taking making its mark in the field of fashion design.
Striped materials are a kind of optical illusion to eyes. It adds that extra bit of creativity to the design. There is one drawback in this type of material.
Cutting of the material has to be precise in order to keep the stripes in the way we want. It is easier said than done.
When the stripes or designed fabrics are used, the constructive modeling stage becomes very important. Especially when it comes to tucks, edges or seams the constructive modeling has to be done. Properties of the pattern such as axis of symmetry are very important when it comes to tucks. Active pattern or a stripe has to be balanced along the tuck.
Hatch stripe design is a very complicated one to handle for a new designer. The angle of hatch plays a vital role in design. It is much more critical in fashion design than in Engineering because it is not just a representation in fashion design. All the stripe designs can be classified into hatch designs. They may be horizontal, vertical or angled hatches.
When the stripes are coming at the edge, it is very important to synchronize the stripes. When the edges are managed properly in the constructive modeling stage, rest of the design becomes comparatively easier.
Slope angle is another important parameter to be identified when the design involves angled stripes. To help on these issues there are formulas and calculations. Even then the experience of the designer is the major factor. An experienced designer will know the correct measurements as soon as he looks at the fabric.
Stripes can be a real handful if it is used properly.
